Description

The Highway 43 East Waste Commission owns and operates a regional landfill for use by County residents . It is a standalone business entity that works jointly with the Village of Alberta Beach, the Towns of Mayerthorpe and Onoway, the Hamlet of Sangudo and twelve Summer Villages in a regional cost-shared recycling program.

55228 Rge Rd 35

County residents must show identification, plus their valid transfer station card when dropping residential waste. People living in towns, villages or summer villages must take their waste to the Main Landfill Site and pay a fee.

All furniture with springs are subject to a tippage surcharge. Examples of items include, but are not limited to, sofas, La-Z-Boy chairs, box springs and mattresses. The surcharge revenue is used each year to rent a shredder for these items, thus, reducing the amount of space being taken up at the landfill.

Please note: The landfill is closed each Christmas on Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It closes early on Dec. 31 at noon and will be closed again January 1 & 2. We apologize for any inconvenience.
